Solar pays best at noon. A farm does not. Milking, cooling, drying and workshop equipment run from before sunrise until late in the evening, so a large part of the electricity the roof produced was leaving the site while the farm bought its evening power back from the grid. A SolisStorage EverCore battery system closed that gap.

Sunshine at noon, work at six in the morning

The photovoltaic system on this farm in Žarnov, in the Košice-okolie district, had been working for a while and was already cutting the bill. But production follows the sun, and consumption follows the working day.

Without storage, only the electricity used at the exact moment it was produced counted. Anything extra at midday left the site; every kilowatt-hour after sunset was bought back. That mismatch is what held the savings at roughly 45%.

Why storage beat adding more panels

More panels would have produced more energy at exactly the hours the farm already had a surplus. Storage solves the other half of the problem: it moves energy the farm has already paid for to the hours when the farm actually needs it.

The EverCore cabinet was connected to the existing installation. Nothing about the original system changed. Midday surplus now charges the batteries and runs the farm in the evening and early the next morning.

What it means for your site

If the panels are already up, storage is usually the fastest way to get more out of them. Energy produced at midday runs the site in the evening, so you buy less at the times electricity costs most, and you install nothing new on the roof.

The sites that gain the most are the ones that work outside the sunniest hours: farms, workshops, cold stores, hotels and any plant that starts early or finishes late.

In most cases, yes. In Žarnov the EverCore was added to a system that had been in operation for years. An installer checks the existing inverter, the grid connection and your consumption profile, and sizes the battery from there.
It depends on how much energy you use outside peak solar hours, on the size of your photovoltaic system and on your tariffs. On this farm the share of self-covered consumption went from around 45% to up to 80%.
It is modular. This farm uses 60 kW / 120 kWh, and the same platform scales to 1.25 MW / 15.66 MWh by combining units, so the system can grow with your consumption.
